About The Artwork

The image is part of my serie "Untitled", phographed between 1978 and 1980, when I began to use a wooden large format camera. The whole series is about man-made objects and was an attempt to go into singular images instead of sequential works. My inspiration at that time were Edward Weston, Walker Evans and Lewis Baltz. To achieve a complete rectangular structure of the image, I turned the camera up, because the movie screen was bent forward. So the image seems complete flat, without a perspective. The center of the image seens empty from far away, like if something had been cut out.

Born 1953 on a small farm at the outskirts of Hamburg, I became fascinated about photography at the age of nine. From then on photography became a passion. Being self-taught in all steps of the photographic process, I started my own business in 1980. The main topics of my works is architecture, now and then with political-ethical or social subtexts.
