Ships in a Tube
Karlskirche's was built in the early 1700's in celebration of the end of the great plague in Vienna by Karl VI, Holy Roman Emperor. The dome, originally painted by Johann Michael Rottmayr, has been restored and the frescoes are super amazing. The scaffolding left in place enables close up images of the detail of the paintings - one cannot but be in awe.
