About The Artwork

How old is a person? As much as it looks like? Or as much as it feels? Or, you still need to look for a passport? You can tell a person's age by the number of wrinkles on his face. What if the genes are such that wrinkles appear much later than in peers? Does the exact age of a person matter if he falls in love? And if he learns something new? And if he never thinks about it, but just lives an interesting life? In today's world we admire youth. We try to lead a healthy lifestyle, eat the right food. Especially we women want to look, or be, under the age of 35. Why do we need this? Isn't it possible to be surprised when you're over 40? Isn't it possible to plan, dream, rejoice in trifles? Can all the variety of experiences be felt only in a short period of youth? Can experience and wisdom not be certain enhancers of the senses? Or even their generators? Isn't it an equivalent exchange to spend energy on creating and sustaining youth to the detriment of feelings or new discoveries that can be made by simply turning your attention away from the mirror? Every stage of our lives is a value. You can enjoy these stages only by taking yourself and your image in the mirror.

Kateryna Kutsevol is a Kyiv author and photographer. Her works are presented in Ukrainian galleries, and also regularly participate in group Ukrainian and international exhibitions. She has two solo exhibitions. Kateryna chose medium photography as the most frank & honest way of knowing her inner world and a way of observing the outside world and recording its changes. In her works she reflects on the thirst for love, loneliness, openness to herself, emotional connection with the objects around her in everyday life. Her desire is to provoke the viewer into a dialogue with themself, with them memory, experiences and emotions, in some cases even to try to escape from reality. The composition of her photographs strives for minimalism with laconic details, symbolic accents and original color combinations, sometimes leaning towards surrealism. Kateryna is inspired by such authors as Kenne Gregoire, Richard Avedon, Kristin Vestgard, Sara Moon, Alex Prager, Alex Russell, Max Ernst. Her photographs have appeared in  at the Duncan Miller Gallery, online Gallery Street photography. Ukraine,  Ukrainian On-Line Photo Gallery, Portal 11 Gallery (Ukraine), NuArt Gallery (Ukraine) my portfolio on Vogue Italia.  She is a Member of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine
