About The Artwork

Crown Prince are the field of pumpkins painted here, they have wonderfully blue skin which juxtaposes with their orange flesh and seeds spectacularly. Pumpkins are the largest fruit in creation and filled with seeds which are essentially representative of the world. Each tiny seed brings with it the hope and potential promise of something new to grow and prosper. We all have to learn how to find balance in this current uncertain time. Even though we might feel alone we have the world at our feet and we must learn how to balance. Hahnemüle Photorag paper 308gsm, 1 - 2cm white boarder, All prints signed and numbered by the artist, Limited edition of 50

Francesca was born in England. She started studying the Arts in secondary school and graduated from Bristol with a BA Hons in Illustration. Previously working within fashion under great designers such as Matthew Williamson inspired her to focus on her personal paintings alongside private commissions. With her first personal painting ‘Finding Balance’ being featured by Saatchi Art in 2020 and more recently asked to contribute her specialist painting skills on an exceptional project shown at Frieze London 2023. Her surreal works are inspired by various artists; Salvador Dali, Renne Magritte, Yayoi Kusama, Rebecca Dautremer and Sylvain Chomet resulting in the absurd, unimaginable and impractical. She states her aim is to: 'Find the boundary between beauty and peculiarity: the “Art of the Odd”. Artists Statement: Heavily influenced by the movements of Dadasim and Surrealism I’m inspired by the creation of impossible scenes within nonsensical circumstances. My pieces begin with a current situation, a feeling, an impression, an angle, an object - something which catches my attention. Usually i’ll end up sitting with this concept for a long time, slowly developing it, adding to it, growing it into something more study, solid. All my personal pieces end up unintentionally reflecting my emotions at the time or a specific event. I’m naturally private, this is where they seem to find their space. www.francescabackhouse.com @francescabackhouse London
