About The Artwork
The subject exudes confidence and attitude with her determined gaze. The sensuous ruby and garnet hues are striking against the monochromatic palette of greys. The hat plays only a peripheral role. I wanted to take a fashion element from my "Women and Wine" series and present it in a more obvious pop art style while presenting the transformative nature of fashion. I was also inspired by black and white fashion photography where an element of colour is left for impact. I love fashion and especially fashion photography. I took my inspiration from the urban art of Shepard Fairey.

I draw inspiration from pop art contemporaries such as Coco Davez, Shepard Fairey, and Malika Favre, as well as icons of the past such as Roy Lichtenstein, Patrick Nigel, and Norman Rockwell.
