Lisa Swerling’s 'Glass Cathedrals' are a series of miniature worlds in boxes, created over the last 20 years in California, Cape Town and now London. The tiny lady sweeping glitter into a pile celebrates not only sparkliness and smallness, but these moments of sweet satisfaction. She's staved off the chaos of life for another day, and created something beautiful in the process. Finding delight in the everyday is a superpower we can all turn on in the blink of an eye. This artwork transports you to a sparkling parallel universe - one that reflects back the best of ourselves and the world we live in. Described as "little pockets of joy", Glass Cathedrals remind us that we are all the heroes of our own stories. Display and Care Glass Cathedrals have a french cleat built into the top back of the frame. They hang on a nail or French cleat (provided) on the wall, or can sit on a shelf. They should be displayed away from direct sunlight and avoid humid conditions eg. bathrooms. Glass can be taken out and cleaned with normal glass cleaner. Media The miniature scenes are housed in white-painted wooden boxes, fronted by glass. The model-railway figurines are painted, and at times augmented with clay, paper, and other ephemera such as specks of glitter and tiny sequins. The interiors are often layered with glitter. Because each order is handmade, they may vary slightly from photos.
