Light and shell-like in weight and appearance, dynamic, subtle and energetic in form, "Appearance of Being No.1" stands structurally balanced on 3 points of contact with the ground. The pure curves and turns engage lightly with the points of contact giving the sculpture a sense of motion, swiftness and weightlessness. Bonding visually with the space and air surrounding it, the form calls forth a sense of transience or impermanence.

Carved from 6 pieces of walnut hand planed and glued together with careful attention to growth ring matching and alignment in lamination, the wood figure blends and compliments the form harmoniously.
