About The Artwork

The energy that is light registers in the eye and the reflected forms from the outer world are upon us. The process repeats in tireless continuity as the sun burns on in its gassy glory. The speed of a movement renders it past before it can be apprehended. But with the quiet and timeless eye, the movements are slow and perceived simultaneously as they occur. The reflection of the seagull soaring through the vast and clear sky occurs in the silent mind without the interval of time. Every movement and all movements are one continuous flow without beginning nor end and without separation between the observer and the observed. As the heart beats and the eyes watch and the ears listen all at the same time, so too does the earth roll on, with all its surface activity and its rumbling core, through the vast emptiness, all at once. The activity of perception with which so many are engaged, as long as the sun continues to energize the globe, will continue endlessly, night and day, day and night but what does it all mean? What are these countless and fleeting experiences for? Or, is the separation, the counting, the holding on to memories; misleading? Perhaps the significance of attention is to establish itself in the eternal present and with this body engage fully in the glory of action with all the "fellows" (humans and all creatures) in a tireless dance of abounding celebration and joy. ................................... Free Form Poem No.5 The dangling drip Suspended loosely At the bottom of The thawing icicle— Nature's whim The droplet of icey Water swaying most Gently along the Rounded tip— At times About to give way To the earth's great Void but then Not yet, Not yet— The biting wind Doth come and, Congealed, the Glistening spike Was but alone.
