Animanimusmundus Sculpture

By recuperating clays, engobes and glazes I reproduce the geological strata found in mountains, rocks and minerals. These are transformed by the action of time, erosion, pressure and heat. This source of inspiration is found in my sculptures, which themselves become geological frescoes, reproductions of a time shortened compared to that of nature, and where the chance of firing provokes fusions, deformations, colours, flows and fissures. Man finds his place there, because without the Earth he would not exist... but then, what would the Earth be if Man was not there to imagine it, understand it and shape it? My sculptures are witnesses of this association. Like a skin, the strata preserve within them the stages of life and time. The human being is like that...each layer is added to an older one...each one will have an impact on the being and is part of a whole that is delicately and intimately linked to the earthly world, to Gaia's world. In this project 68 ceramic blocks are stacked to create a human-sized space, with an inside and an outside. Inside, humans are represented by faces...all the same but all with small differences in a "melting pot" of humanity always in relation to the Earth which, on the outside, is represented by the strata and which acts as a container. Every day our Earth pushes us towards a common destiny, a common society, but even if this "melting pot" is a necessary good we do not always recognise it!
