About The Artwork

Buy a unique modern handmade state of the art desk lamp | An excellent minimal sculpture made of a large ball bearing | Shipping worldwide This ball bearing sculpture is part of my abstract series of sculptures. It does not symbolize something particular. I mostly play with form and materials. Here I liked the composition between a hard material such as metal and a soft cloth. E27 lamp base Red Cloth cable 1m Black switch close to base of the sculpture White shade included EU black plug 30cm height without shade What is a ball bearing used for? The purpose of a ball bearing is to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. It achieves this by using at least two races to contain the balls and transmit the loads through the balls. In most applications, one race is stationary and the other is attached to the rotating assembly (e.g., a hub or shaft). As one of the bearing races rotates it causes the balls to rotate as well. Because the balls are rolling they have a much lower coefficient of friction than if two flat surfaces were sliding against each other. I use only metal scrap parts for my art sculptures. Passionate about mechanics and art, I started creating with metal and scrap since the age of 18. My themes vary between humanoid, figurative, transportation, motorcycle, abstract. The latest years I have adopted a passion for lighting. I started adapting lighting in my art sculptures. Why not combine uniqueness and functuionality.

My name is Giannis I was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo in 1978, but I'm Greek. I spent most of my childhood in Kinshasa until I was 12 when I moved to Athens. I studied electrical engineering and later art restoration in Athens, where I currently live and work. I work as a digital marketer with exertiese on SEO & Google Ads. As an artist, I'm a self-taught metal sculptor, and my primary medium is industrial metal scrap parts. My artwork reflects my interest in exploring the relationship between humans and modern industrial society. I find inspiration in human-centered themes, such as motherhood, and the materials I use, which come from contemporary industrial society. Through my art, I examine the contradiction between human nature and the automated society and the challenges that arise as a result. I'm particularly interested in the position of man within this society and the impact it has on the human experience. Since 2000, I've had my workshop in Athens, where I continue to live and work. In addition to my artistic pursuits, I also work as a digital marketer.
