As I look at the world I see art. The way we walk, the way we communicate, and how the colors and patterns come to form, for each individual this is unique and fascinating. I have developed several series throughout my career that illuminate aspects of our world and humanity as I see it. I have my unique way to create illustrative anecdotes that bring forth humor and satire I feel necessary to enjoy life. I create my artwork in a variety of lenses, that from above, the all seeing, and viewed at our level of reality.
Multiple mediums provide me the full arena to express my artwork. In the form of sculpture I use concentric pieces that connect to one another. I see them connecting our dimension to the other worlds, and ultimately, to the interconnected thread of life. All shapes resonant with an organic tone reflecting shapes we see in nature. With stainless steel and aluminum, each sculpture has a unique cast of shadow that reflects uniquely dependent on the angle of light. My vision for my sculptures is large-scale, landscape pieces that the public can enjoy and interact with as the shadow transforms in perspective, relative to sunrise and sunset.
In all my work, I can see presence of the divine. Shown most pictorially in the ‘City of Love’ series. Eyes watch us always, we are always guided and being seen in the darkest or most mundane spaces. ‘Guerreros del Espacio’ I allude to this mystical principal of ultimate interconnectedness and guidance through ritual or tradition. Much of my work also exemplifies my perspective and humor I see in human decisions in regards to politics and technology. This is seen in ‘Vicharros,’ where I bring humanistic machines that engage in child like behavior to the canvas. In this series I illustrate the freedom available in the imagination of a child. ‘Ozotron’ focuses on the solution to saving nature, our planet and our people with the help of a super hero from the future. ‘Made in China’ brings us all the way down to the reality by shedding light in dark places, illustrating US interdependence with China. Each of my pieces is unique and alive with color. I am fascinated by small detail on large format paintings and drawings. I like a large canvas where I can draw big objects and dive deep with detail. I paint in acrylic and oil, and have many graphite drawings.
