About The Artwork
This sculpture belongs to the series "Eyes-Nose-Mouth", where the sparing use of element reports to cartoon artist as Quino or Mordillo. Also, it relates to a new form of communication - emojis - where the use of the essencial elements of the human face are key to convey intention or emotion to the written text. In this particular piece, the sculptor also was inspired by the philosophy of the Japanese technique of Kintsugi were the imperfections of the process or of the piece are owned and a fundamental part of the end result. Instead of bonding the pieces with gold, the artist opted for a assembly with brass pins so that the raku glazed inside was visible. Working only with Portuguese stone (marbles, limestone`s and breccia), she also mix it with other media if the idea demands it. The result is very personal way to make art objects that link the tradition of stone carving to other materials and plastic languages.
