About The Artwork

Dejavu represents AURYN, the amulet of the Infanta Empress of "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende. The artwork is made up of two snakes, one white and one black, which bite their tails similar to ouroboros, an ancient symbol that describes the cyclical nature of things. Universal energy is constantly being consumed and renewed. In today's society, characterized by strong consumerism, it's important to understand that the resources of our planet aren't infinite and that objects and materials can have a second life, they can turn into something new. For this reason, in our works we try to use mainly recycled materials; in Dejavu all the mirrors used come from processing waste. The figure has neither a beginning nor an end, a story encloses another creating an infinite circle, an eternal return, it is apparently immobile but in eternal movement. Even the artwork is in eternal movement, the light it reflects is always different, it changes at different times of the day, depending on the weather and the position from which you look at it.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015. Our adventure was born almost for fun, not having much money to invest we started using low cost and recycled materials. Today's society is characterized by strong consumerism and many materials are wasted or thrown away, but we think it is important to enhance them by giving them a second life. Even with poor and waste materials you can create an extraordinary work. Our artworks are unique pieces made entirely by hand. The light interacts with them making them "alive", they change according to the time of day, the weather, the lighting and the point from which you look at it.
