"Dumbbell" as lamp in the show "Lighten Up!, Artist's Interpretation of the Ubiquitous Lamp"
"Dumbbell" was conceived for a show entitled: "Lighten Up! Artist's Interpretation of the Ubiquitous Lamp" (see extra photos). In that iteration, the weights on either side were 12" plastic globes that lit up. For the sculpture version, I substituted carved weights for the plastic globes to be more true to the subject matter.

The figures are carved in styrofoam then coated with a number of coatings with the last one a hard, stucco-like resin. It is then painted with acrylic paints and sealed with a satin polyurethane. This is an indoor piece only, it is not suited for outdoor installations.

This piece can be molded and cast in aluminum and painted with automotive paints if an outdoor installation is desired. Or, it can be cast in bronze without painting, just a simple brown/gold patina. POR.

This piece can be hand-delivered and installed by me for the same shipping price (continental USA only).
