Pieces of Me Series is a body of work I have been creating for the past decade. Each puzzle piece is hand cut, and the composition welded inside a casting of myself. I take new castings of myself several times a year. No two pieces are ever the same, just as we all vary from day to day. The series started as a visual reminder for women to put on their armor as they walk out the door in the morning. At home we are the soft space, the nurturing caregivers; but in the workplace we are the CEO's, the business owners, the ones that keep business rolling. We must be protected, strong, and unyielding in our convictions. The duality is a delicate balance, and only women are strong enough to bear it. May this copper and silver sculpture remind you that while your roles may create contradictory expectations of you throughout the day; and the many hat changes can be grueling, you have the strength and protection inside of you. It is in all your many puzzle pieces

"My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, & heal through art". Welded Sculpture is Woodford’s passion. Her work is a dialog with organic flow, movement and scale. Woodford grew up on the East Coast in Southern Maryland, but has called the Midwest home for many years. She travels between South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Dallas, and Arizona where she creates, has representation, or teaches. Traveling enables me to teach, be of service to others and broaden my views." The figurative series she creates depicts her thinking on current as well as historical matters and her perceptions from a female viewpoint. The work is inherently autobiographical while also leaving space for the viewer's interpretative dialog. Woodford's goal is to create healing sculptures that embody a sense of hope. "We are all connected. We are all the same, and could see each other as mirrors but for the smoke in-between.”
