About The Artwork
This relief is made from mergel, a specific stone that can be found in the part of the Netherlands where I live. The stone dates from the era Mesozoïcum (Chalk), a period with a relatively warm climate and a high sea level. On the land lived all sorts of dinosaurs and huge plants with beautiful flowers covering the earth. I freed this flower that was captured in the stone for the past 100 mililon years.
