About The Artwork

Vintage spice and cracker tins, toy iron, vintage car window cranks, vacuum tubes, fishing reel, telephone speaker, vintage brush cleaner. Ginger was born in Jamaica and her athletic prowess was evident from a very early age. Her father managed one of the best Blue Mountain Coffee plantations, and her mother was an entrepreneur who founded the largest chain of laundry shops in Kingston. Ginger was fortunate to attend a very prestigious international school, and it was there that she began competing in track, first setting numerous records as a sprinter, before moving on to longer and longer distances. She completed her first marathon at age 12, finishing ahead of many of the high school competitors, both male and female. By the age of 15, she was winning virtually every race outright, regardless of age categories. This naturally caught the eye of the coaches for the Jamaican National Bobsled Team, and she competed in the 2014 Olympics, 26 years after her father competed on the first Jamaican Olympic Bobsled team! She attended Stanford University, where she set several NCAA records in track, and went on to get an MBA from Harvard Business School, and shifted her athletic pursuits to competitive ironwoman events. Luckily, in addition to inheriting her father’s athletic abilities, she also inherited her mother’s entrepreneurial spirit, and went on to start two very successful businesses. While at HBS she visited Martha’s Vineyard several times, and while having a Dirty Banana with her B-school friends at Donovan’s Reef at Nancy’s, Donovan came over to chat, and they realized that they had numerous mutual friends. She has since moved to Martha’s Vineyard, and is opening a Jamaican restaurant with Donovan, as well as importing her father’s Blue Mountain coffee to the island. While it hasn’t been confirmed, rumor has it they are now ‘an item’…

David Joseph is an artist, physician, engineer and inventor who lives on Martha’s Vineyard and in Naples, Florida. As an artist, David’s primary media are found object art and photography. An avid international traveler, he has visited over 120 countries on all seven continents, all 50 states, and over 250 UNESCO world heritage sites, each destination an opportunity to photograph nature, wildlife, and portraits. Unable to travel during Covid, David saw the potential to create art from the mundanity around him. He began to create found object sculptures made of old or used common household items, toys, and sports equipment. Each whimsical, thought-provoking piece displays the balanced composition of a trained artist and the skilled construction of an engineer.
