About The Artwork

The endless regenerating spiral of life. Raven Red powder coated Stainless Steel on Steel Base. This sculpture is an edition of 7 and another is available. Four weeks lead time. My work in sculpture is highly linked to the process of transformation. I consider the potential energy of my materials and lure out of them the dynamic forces of nature. I blend emotion with form, allowing the work to evolve, probing shapes, investigating their capacity to change. I seek to reveal the nature of the material, allowing it to take on a life of it's own. Keywords: red, calligraphy, abstract, minimal, nature

Damon Hyldreth has been creating sculpture for over 30 years. His sculptures in steel ~ flowing forms that defy the heaviness of the material ~ are physical representations of the forces of nature. They embody delicate meeting points between elemental forces and man-made creation, balancing stasis and movement, the present and future moments, negative and positive space. He has received commissions throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East; his works are in the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin and the collection of the Queen of Jordan. After studying industrial design he received a sculpture degree from SFAI. FROM THE ARTIST: My work stands as a reminder of the connection between man and nature, even as the world around us becomes increasingly removed from this essential and most basic union. While the metals I use are clearly man-made, the result of my collaboration with them is a blurring of the divide between nature and structure, space and form.
