About The Artwork

Scale maquette of the spire of Notre-Dame, which was destroyed by fire on 15 April 2019. This piece has been accurately designed using Viollet-le-Duc’s original spire drawings, 3D scan data, high-res photos and the original carpenter’s model of the beam structure. The artist made this piece as a research exercise so that architects can study ‘what was lost’ before they try and attempt to design a new spire for Notre-Dame.
