About The Artwork

'Arms' is one of my favorite designs in my 'Universal Glass' series. The stainless steel construction, with suspended metal finish ensures longevity and minimal maintenance. Fully enclosed base protects against interior weathering while also adding weight and stability. Base has a hollow lip for easy installation in concrete, or staking in the ground. Kilned glass weathers beautifully, and is quite durable in exterior settings. Glass is packaged separately and must be installed post receiving with included hardware. I use a 20 year guaranteed suspended metal finish that was created by a sculptor in California, and tested on the salt air beach. Minimal maintenance is required to ensure brilliant copper glow. This sculpture needs to be waxed annually, every six months preferred. Each suspended metal finish is custom painted with highlights and lowlights in antiquing brown, and brass to create depth and interest. Even with minimal sunlight your sculpture will shimmer with bright brass and aged copper tones. "My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, & heal through art". Welded Sculpture is Woodford’s passion. Her work is a dialog with organic flow, movement and scale. Woodford grew up on the East Coast in Southern Maryland, but has called the Midwest home for many years. She travels between South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Dallas, and Arizona where she creates, has representation, or teaches. Traveling enables me to teach, be of service to others and broaden my views." The figurative series she creates depicts her thinking on current as well as historical matters and her perceptions from a female viewpoint. The work is inherently autobiographical while also leaving space for the viewer's interpretative dialog. Woodford's goal is to create healing sculptures that embody a sense of hope. "We are all connected. We are all the same, and could see each other as mirrors but for the smoke in-between.”
