Lived Moments No 01 Sculpture

Lived Moments is a ceramic series resulting from a long-duration performance of a sitting meditation on the throwing wheel. The artists synchronised her breath and gestures, to throw circles in a single breath and let go of it afterwords. Each sculpture is unique in size, shape and proposition as the artist let her body decide how many hours she would sit every day on the throwing-wheel. The results are ceramic cairns that carry the lived experience of the artist. By combining unique experiences with a deep commitment to process, the work invites the audience to engage with and reflect upon the power of embodied experience and material qualities. "My research is concerned with the question of how to preserve and document lived experiences in clay. I belief that the medium clay has the potential to preserve and express the intangible aspects of life. I see my sculptures as archives of body memories, embodied experiences, and performative actions. My work is informed by my journey as a forced right-hander, including my reflections on the resulting disconnection between body and mind."
