Lluís Cera was born in Barcelona in 1967, into a family of sculptors and performers. He learned the craft of stone and marble execution in his grandfather's workshop, a disciple of the Italian sculptors' workshops of Mr. Bequini who introduced the copying technique for stone tips to the Iberian Peninsula. In this laboratory the interest and love for the form is based and it also shares the culture and the desire for freedom that arose after the Franco dictatorship, with the relationship with numerous sculptors and artists who have offered their works to execute them. He graduated in Fine Arts, specializing in Sculpture at the University of Barcelona in 1993 and won his first small prize for sculpture in Cardona. After college, he shares the work of the performance workshop with his own creation. Influenced by the philosophy of postmodernity and by his mother's serious psychiatric illness, he created his first collection of sculptures entitled "Men trapped in their own existence" in the Sala Gaspar in Barcelona. In that first exhibition the characteristics of his work are already reflected, which he will not abandon until today, the knotted, trapped forms, the use of different materials in the same work and the text inscribed in the sculpture. The first international fairs at ARCO Madrid begin with the Sala Gaspar, where he contacts the gallery director, Walter Bischoff, with whom he will establish a close relationship that will lead him to periodically and continuously exhibit around the world at art fairs until today and personal exhibitions in Berlin, Lugano, Estuttgart, Madrid, Zug, Nice and at the Villa Haiss Museum in Zell a H. In the meantime, he combines personal exhibitions in Barcelona at the Mª josé Castellví gallery, in Italy, with the Immaginaria Arti gallery. Visit Florence and in Australia the Catherine Asquith gallery. He has done public works found in Korea, Spain and Germany.
