About The Artwork
This sculpture consists of a cast concrete slab suspended by a series of ropes and pulleys. The concrete slab is held in place by rope which passes through the slab and over the pulleys, which are above and below the slab. The tension in the rope is holding the weight of a load (the concrete slab). This weight is therefore distributed above and below the load. This piece was on display at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Show 2011.
