About The Artwork

MEMORIA has been realised with Montblanc porcelain and Gold (24K), it is possible to leave the piece on a orizontal surface or hang it on the wall (the back is provided with a brass plague that allows it's wall mounting installation) Places and Memories embedded in Matter. This piece is part of the project Erbe des Ortes developed thanks to Amcha Deutschland. Through my research about the places of persecution of Sinti and Roma in Berlin, I reached an archive photo indicating a "Zigeuner-Lager" in Berlin Weissensee. It was quite difficult to find a corresponding real place, but digging I actually find two addresses. The piece that you see, embraces parts of land collected during my patrol in this two places. {The project Erbe des Ortes has been granted by Amcha in Berlin and starts from the studies on transgenerational trauma in epigenetic research, which show the "transgenerational transmission" of trauma at the level of DNA epigenetic markers and demonstrate how the impact of a negative environment can affect future generations, I asked myself how the same process has actually affected and continues to affect the context of the "landscape" and the "city". How many memories and pasts are rooted in the places where these events took place? How much of what happened in these places over the years can we as people still feel and observe? To what extent have these events marked whole areas (sometimes even whole swathes of land) and deprived them of the normal process of development, not only in terms of urbanisation, but also on a cultural and social level? Through the parallelism between people and landscape, "Erbe des Ortes" aims to explore this question and lead to reflection and an awareness.}

Jessica Rimondi is an Italian artist currently living in Berlin.She graduated in mixed media fine art at the University of Westminster of London and studied at the Accademia Albertina di Torino,Italy. Jessica elaborates upon seemingly quotidian activities in her paintings and installations, turning small moments and ordinary objects into deeper explorations of human emotions, feelings, and memories. Her work is thus conceived as a congruence between pop culture and ancestry, playing around the idea of functionality, perception and value through the use of different techniques. Gesture is at the forefront of her expressive paintings, germinating from her own photos, were common Objects and random situation photographed around visited places, sounds and processes, revealing a shift from nature to human, daily and historical. Her works are sort of microcosm questioning the value of little things that lead us wondering about them gleaning from our personal experiences. Jessica Rimondi has an extensive international exhibition and awards history, in the last years she realised ERBE DES ORTES, a project produced by AMCHA Deutschland, she collaborated with the Simard Bolodeau contemporary gallery of Los Angeles, has been invited for “Sound Vision In Vitro” for Matera Culture Capital 2019, selected as winner of ArtLab Munich indicted by Galerie Bejamin Eck 2020, received the “Highly commented price” for the CSR Travers Smith Art program(London, UK) and the fellowship for the Sacatar Foundation Residency in Brazil.
