About The Artwork

Triptych of sculptures hand-modeled with black clay and fired in a ceramic kiln at a temperature of 1050º. This composition of three pieces are linked through their shapes, colors and vertical arrangement on the wall. The glaze is brown with gray litmus features. The slight variation of tones and shapes between the pieces accentuate the idea of transformation and change of the organic bodies. The reading of these sculptures from top to bottom implies simplification and from bottom to top complexity, two concepts very integrated to the ceramic process. The central piece serves as a connector of two different proposals of the same material. The three pieces are easily hung on the wall with a distance between them of approximately 2 cm. The proximity between them proposes a narrative of the process in my research on the communication of form.

In the relationship between the forms there is a narrative of proximity, of contact, of encounter, and it is probable that this narrative is not only composed of concepts but fundamentally of sensations. In Oscar Barbery's work, sculpture is the verb, it is the action and it is the subject, its formal constitution is the result of representations of the self-determined movement of matter: undefined bodies that attract, compose and project themselves. The relationship between them suggests a new nature or an amplified nature.
