About The Artwork
Nijinsky came to mind as I was attempting to construct a figure from memory. I was reflecting on my Antioch College sculpture studio classes taught by John Ritterskamp. He encouraged his students to watch, draw and sculpt during the dance department practices, and we did. I was fortunate to have as teacher, an Artist like Ritterskamp, who worked alongside us students. And we watched as he sculpted, energizing clay and bronze which culminated in figures that could dance, breathe and were "alive."
