About The Artwork

Omni My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, and heal through art. Warritress Series originated as sculptures for me, depicting the strength and endurance of a female warrior that I needed to find within myself after a debilitating car accident. Omni is the fourth in the Warritress Series, completed in the fourth year of recovery. The Koi represents the rebirth of every woman when she realizes she is a warrior. As the wings outstretch the koi start to morph- the fins becoming wings, representing the ability to dance between worlds as we become authentic self. Omni’s armor is forged in fire, and hammered to emulate the battles themselves. The fierceness of the warrior is forged by her defeats and triumphs. Victory is her state of mind, as she is not clad in the glamorous, shiny emblems of fortune and infamy.

"My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, & heal through art". Welded Sculpture is Woodford’s passion. Her work is a dialog with organic flow, movement and scale. Woodford grew up on the East Coast in Southern Maryland, but has called the Midwest home for many years. She travels between South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Dallas, and Arizona where she creates, has representation, or teaches. Traveling enables me to teach, be of service to others and broaden my views." The figurative series she creates depicts her thinking on current as well as historical matters and her perceptions from a female viewpoint. The work is inherently autobiographical while also leaving space for the viewer's interpretative dialog. Woodford's goal is to create healing sculptures that embody a sense of hope. "We are all connected. We are all the same, and could see each other as mirrors but for the smoke in-between.”
