About The Artwork

Storm is a figurine that is swept of her feet in a gush of wind. She throws her arms in the air, wrestling to find balance. First drawn on paper, later worked out in mdf (woodfiber) board. Painted monochrome: copper colour. It is a degree of abstraction of the human body. Finding out the limits of how far I could go in changing the human anatomy, and still keeping a general sense of physicality. Abstraction versus recognition. The sculpture is a free standing high relief, minor depth.

I was born in the South of Holland(Brabant) where I followed the Art Academy in Tilburg. At present living and working as an artist in Amsterdam. I am a serial artist: During a certain period I am caught up in a special theme. I make a group of objects, close to each other in ambiance and material. (like the drapery fiberwood amongst others). There is a period of attendance, bloom and decay. In the decay faze my interest shifts gradually to a new theme, a different material. This all within an over arching way of thinking. As I am moving forward in a stream of awareness, by-products are seceded all the time; by-products in the appearance of art; by-products that make statements about this brutal life, which is above all very strange. Statements in the matter, memories from special moments, in order to forget nothing and to capture them forever. Like an ever growing metaphysical library kept by industrious monks. In addition to that, to reveal the worlds that the mind’s eye has seen in the dreamtime. The inner part of the mind. Imagine, all those hidden worlds we all carry inside of us, it nears infinity. To this purpose I made a series of short movies that can be watched on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCKDRw0KBj2twf6rIZAOMQw
