About The Artwork
The work began as a test for a particular material - marble and the method of fixing. Once the solution to the enquiry was established it was too intriguing to leave the test there. So I then began a process of building the finished work as I came across material offcuts or waste in and around my studio. I wanted to use a variety of different materials but bring them together to create a harmony, symphony - each being very individual but playing together. I experimented with material reactions - seen in the black and silver element. I admire all of the materials used for different reasons whether it be their particular colour, texture, shape, strength etc

I was born and grew up in Nottingham, England. I moved to Sunderland, England in 1995 to study for my (1st Class) BA(Hons) Degree in Photography, Video & Digital Imaging. In 1999 I moved up the road to Newcastle upon Tyne where I remained until 2005, apart from a 5 month spell of living in Paris in 2002. In 2005 I moved to London and gained a MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2006. I am interested in manipulating meaning and deconstructing this to offer alternative narratives. I am currently working with found objects and materials where I alter perceived qualities and attributes, enhancing an objects materiality or its accepted signification.
