The series: The title “Trophy Wives” is a play on words and surreal interpretation of taxidermy. A woman’s shorn head is mounted as a hunting trophy and adorned with the horns or antlers of a non-human animal. The faces are beautiful and young and will remain so forever. Each has been chased, hunted, won and kept, all words used to describe both the pursuit of women and predation of wild animals for sport. This piece: The bright Barbie pink of the young woman's head belies her dire state. Her full lips pout and blue eyes shine while springbok horns emerge from her head in swirling silver. Her expression is of resignation to her fate.

United States
Sophia Moreau is a mixed media painter and sculptor from the west coast of the US. Her artwork is an exploration of the relationship between humans and the objects that surround them. Gilded frames do more than hang, they reach out and climb the walls, leather bound books are woven together into visual worlds and taxidermied trophies tell many tales.
