“Woman in Stone” shows the chisel marks of the Artist Karl Geckler’s original stone sculpture before casting it in bronze. Geckler really tries to capture the process of carving in stone with this sculpture! It was casted into bronze and covered with a green patina. About Karl Geckler Karl Geckler is an architect and sculptor based in Chicago, IL Karl graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia and has worked for the architectural firms SOM, GREC Architects and Taller de Arquitectura, as well as maintaining a private architectural practice. He studied stone carving in Pietrasanta, Italy and tool and die/welding in Chicago. His passion is the art of stone carving and he has taught hundreds of students this craft. He is currently focused on sculpture and furniture designs.
