This sculpture is named after explorer Zebulon Pike for whom "Pike's Peak" in Colorado is named. A "pike" is a large and fierce freshwater fish native to North America. The sculpture "Zebulon" is the letter "Z" entry in a 26 piece series of fish sculptures. The series is titled "Age of Aquarium"

Opening a stone to see inside, exposing a surface that's been hidden since the beginning of time, revealing a hidden view of the universe, are the things that excite me. I share my excitement by carving the stone into an asbstract shape that balances delicately at an impossible angle to force the viewer to reexamine their assumptions about the physical world.
