I was printmaking on the subject of every day kitchen items, using the collograph technique of cutting out figures, inking them and putting them through the press. When I lifted the ice cream scoop and can opener "plates" off the print, they were striped in red in a dramatic way. There is something almost human about the can opener. I hope the viewer can see this dichotomy. And also feel a little nostalgia for the simplicity of these objects which many people have grown up with.
