About The Artwork

An oversized statement piece in red and gold This dramatic sunset artwork was created by blending one of my red fluid art paintings with my landscape scenery. This contemporary fusion was made in concert with AI technology and after many iterations it has resulted in this dreamy fantasy landscape filled with puddles of gold. Pools of Gold The original photograph was made on the fabulous Isle of Harris where the view down the beach towards the small island of Taransay looks directly into the sun. I have combined this with the beautiful swirls of red and gold from my fluid art using intensely coloured inks. The combination has resulted in a fabulous fusion where the gold takes on the swirls of incoming tide and the sea and sand take on the colour of the setting sun. A fabulous statement piece for any room but would look great over the sofa or above the bed. It will look wonderful on a dark wall where it will brighten and add interest. About My Work Your beautiful artwork will be Giclée printed on beautiful Heavy weight Baryta Paper which has the most fabulous holds colour for a lifetime and is perfect for intensely coloured images. Canson have been making paper for over 450 years and their paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Miro and Warhol to name but a few. The 10 inks I use for my printing are state-of-the-art non fade Epson Ultrachrome K3 with Vivid Magenta. Baryta paper can be displayed without glass or acrylic, it is light fast and will not fade. Perfect for float mounting. The print size is 44 x 44 inches including a white border of 2 inches all round the image for handling. The artwork will be signed My work has been exhibited in New York and elsewhere and is collected all over the world; I currently have an exhibition on display in South Korea.

As a professional photographer I travel often to the islands of northern Scotland to make my images in places that provoke a profound emotional reaction. The colours, the textures, the wildness of the places and the history are all intertwined in a fascinating, and often bewildering melting pot of sensation that forces me to make art. After moving many times to get to where I should be, I now live on top of a cliff at the northern end of the Isle of Skye. Skye is a large and very beautiful island in the far north of Scotland; a place of inspiration, myth and legend. The beauty of the landscape draws artists and walkers, photographers and lovers of Nature like a magnet, and I am likewise smitten. Skye has a ruggedness and intense green hills that would make anyone pick up a camera or a paintbrush. My work has moved through variations on a theme of movement and colour. Whether the camera moves or I move or the landscape moves it is all the same. Colours, moving blending and soaking into one another create a sense of playfulness, the feeling you get when the wind is in your hair on a bright sunny day. More and more I wonder if there is any end to how one can capture the colours, the lines and the essence of a place. In my studio today, the bright green Hill of the Red Fox is shrouded in a light mist, the wind is howling and the clouds are moving quickly across the hills. It is a scene that makes my heart sing. I hope my work conveys some of the joy I feel when I see these colours, the harmony and the wind singing through it all. It is at least a quest that, hopefully, will last a lifetime.
