~Athena breaking hearts~ Ink on Paper, 8x10 inches, digital print This piece depicts the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage and skill, Athena, as she shoots a Greek soldier through the chest. The Romans called Athena Minerva, and she is typically depicted as being slow to anger, and always supporting just causes. Athena was a goddess of military strategy, and only went to battle under the most extreme duress, normally fighting with a bow. Here she is shown liquefying a soldier's chest, as her arrow shoots his heart out. The piece is intended to show her beauty and grace, but above all, the mythical invulnerability of the Greek gods.

My name is Michael Nicholson, and I am a 21 year old artist from Adelaide, Australia. I have been painting for around 5 years, without any formal training. I attended secondary school at St. Peter's College, and am finishing degrees in Law and Media at the University of Adelaide.
