Depicts Ismbard Kingdom Brunel contemplating his achievements especially engineering the magnificent Great Western Railway connecting London with Bristol; built towards the end of the industrial revolution in Great Britain. Toxic sulphurous emissions from the tall chimneys of almost countless iron and steel manufactories darkening the sky with soot laden smoke which blackened every building in grime. All this, not only made the iron masters and mill owners very rich and powerful, but also brought misery and the early demise of the workers, their families and other residents (collateral damage) domicile dreadful hovels prevalent in overcrowded and unsanitary towns.

United Kingdom
Born in 1938, I've had a passion for painting, drawing and sketching since my early teens. I still live in the same granite cottage in north-west Wales that's been the family home for around 300 years and the natural surroundings and landscapes have influenced my appreciation and sense of space, light, nature and tone. We emigrated to New Zealand in the 60s before spending time in Australia and then returning back to Wales in 1972 where we've been ever since. These and other travels added to the mix of cultural and other sensory influences that crop up in my works. I'm delighted that my works have found their way around the world - from murals in New Zealand to book artwork in the UK. I hope you like what's on show here. Just a mention that the works of Aubrey Beardsley, Egon Schiele , Hieronymus Bosch and Klimt I find absorbing. In addition the art of New Zealand's Maori people and Australian Aboriginals also has made a strong impression on me.
