About The Artwork
I drew this pastel artwork of Lilies against the cobalt blue background. The intense blue was a perfect backcloth for the Lilies as it showed their shape and colour to perfection. Pastels give a vibrancy which is difficult to get with other mediums and I find it is perfect for my flower and still life studies. I set up the still life in my studio and work quite quickly as I draw from life before the flowers wilt. I use very high quality pastels from Henri Roche in Paris, and fix the artwork so it can travel perfectly. I am a member of the Society of Women Artists and exhibit my pastels regularly with them at the Mall galleries, London.

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
