This young humpback calf swims across the endless ocean. Recently parted from her mother, she now explores the big blue. Tang encountered a humpback while on a whale watching tour and wanted to capture the beauty of these majestic mammals. The sun shines on the humpback whale as she prepares to take a breath and show off her fluke. Each tail fluke are as unique as fingerprints of humans and it is how scientists identify them. With humpbacks being hunted to the brink of extinction before, it is a precious moment for Tang to have had the chance to be so close to them.

Canada
Fiona Tang is an internationally recognized Artist from Vancouver, BC, Canada. She is most well known for her mural sized animal drawings that appear to 'leap out' of the drawing. Her hope is to minimize the distance between humans and animals by having her viewers interact with her animals emotionally and physically and be overwhelmed with a sense of vulnerability and wonder by the sheer size.
