About The Artwork

The artist is adept on the computer, and of course, with an inquiring mind, it was inevitable that his work would also go into the virtual realm. Indeed, human existence and our place in this world is the primary interest to John. So the step into the virtual world of computers is a fascination to the artist. His first, step in this direction, was a short film called "The Last Weekend" 2001, which used computer games, as virtual sets. "Bangkok Noodles" was made using a computer pen and pad, in photoshop. John was particularly interested in the pure colours obtained, in a computer, by the use of light, rather than pigments. Other than that, he approached these images, of which there were many, in a similar way that he paints; working in thin layers, slowly letting the work evolve, through trial, error and experimentation. The subject matter, is eating street food in Bangkok, the capitol of the Thailand. The country in which, he has built his life, over the past 16 years.

I was born in London UK, but have spent the last 19yrs, living on the tropical island of Koh Phangan. My work, is colorful, like my life has been. My art has always been a celebration of life, from art school, to the present. They are about what I see, and feel. They are about the human condition, and a fascination, with a heroic struggle. They are about love, and they are about form. I have a strong link to western art, taking a circuitous, route, from early art, through classicism, modernism to contemporary art. I reference, and draw from these influences, but also I breathe in culture, in all it’s forms, and from my rich, eventful life. I wish to communicate through my work. I hope you understand.
