About The Artwork
The above is a representation of a single tile in the wall of the courtyard of the oldest existing University in the world, Al Quaraouiyine in the old city of Fes, Morocco. They are tessellating mosaics made from tiny pieces of different colours Here, I draw out the geometric beauty of a tile in isolation, as if glittering under moonlight on a dark night, yet itself the moon, radiating lightness as the mosiac pieces reflect the moonlight.
