About The Artwork

This digital painting is part of a series of compositions about contemporary life and feelings. It shows the way I feel my body as a digital, blurred representation, with very soft edges where I feel constantly merging my physical body with the virtual world. This is a painting about sadness and how I imagine myself crying in a beautiful un-existent virtual landscape.

I am a visual artist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and I studied contemporary theatre during eight years in the company H.A.T (Human Artist Theatre) in Bogotá. In 2020 I completed my master studies in Photography and Visual Arts at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, Belgium. I have experience in acting, art and set design, photography and digital editing, videography, among other techniques that fluctuate between the material and the virtual world. Through my practice I investigate my physical states and their relation with the different dimensions I inhabit: From the digital space that has become a second reality increasingly immersive, addictive and intrusive, to the space of nature, which frees me from the constant control and surveillance to which we are subjected in our contemporary society. I understand artistic language as a way to explore my perception of the world freely, through myth and fiction as tools that allow me to talk about my most concrete experience, but also about dreamlike and utopian worlds that I imagine. Using media such as photography, video, digital constructions, and painting, I seek to create images, spaces, characters and bodies that are a fabric between imagination and matter, an alchemy that transforms everyday experiences and places, in new dimensions where the intangible and invisible becomes real.
