My interest in the coast, has long been part of my artistic language - I am fascinated with the colour and the power of the sea and where it meets the land. Colour also is a primary mover in what I do, the interaction of sky, sea and land with the light changing and atmospheric conditions, that change the impact it has on our soul. It leaves us with strong memories of moments that we have been fortunate to observe - I try to capture that in my work, whether it be waves crashing into the rocks or the expanse of sea and sky. I work with my drawings which are then scanned into the computer and using a multitude of elements, some photographic and some drawn directly via a Wacom tablet build the images through multi layers that interact with each other into something which captures for me the essence of what it is I saw on the day/or in the moment. It is about a sense of order and control that for me is a vital important part of the process using digital technology to explore ideas and ensuring that each mark or layer is there for a purpose and not just gratuitous. Inspiration comes from painters such as Albert Irvine, Patrick Heron, Robert Rauschenberg, Le Corbusier and of course many more. All work is signed and dated
