The Adventures of Cindy Collage Print

My one-time coworker and muse, Cindy, was the inspiration for a collection of cartoon drawings, photographs and 'photo-drawings'. Together, from 1997 to 2005, we operated a weird, small-town, industrial retail outlet for a small businessman. It was a dead-end job to be sure, but the people we ran into, the events in our lives at that time and the things we found ourselves having to do to make ends meet, all became subjects of intense analysis and introspection, (for us both). Like a prehistoric cave-artist, I wasn't satisfied just talking about the things we did and saw. I had to draw them. I think these cartoons may be my favorite pieces. The company owner was always operating in the 'cheap' and had purchased a second-hand slave monitor, wirelessly connected to a hopelessly under-powered server, located in another building about 50 away. The monitor was placed next to the cash register on the customer service counter in the main area of the store. In between customers and wireless drop-outs, I drew these cartoons using Microsoft Paint and a temperamental trackball that made my wrist burn. As you can tell, the drawings depict the musings of two smart, but bored under-achievers. The individual images will be available separately. The antiquated equipment used to produce the images restricted the size of the original files. Each image at actual size is 8" X 10". The heavily-pixelated effect was native to the 2000 version of Microsoft Paint. I can't imagine using a 2000 version MS Paint and a 20 year-old track-mouse to draw anything today.
