About The Artwork

I was at a huge party at a friends farm. We were having a great time and I saw my buddy Jack's old 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille parked in the barn, so I took a picture of it as the sun was going down. The next day we got word that the barn had caught on fire and "Betty Lou" was gone, along with the barn. The only thing left of this beautiful car was the front licence plate, and the two paintings I did of her. Jack has the smaller study, and I kept this one.

I have been painting since I was very young. I was passed the painting gene by my mother, who was an outstanding artist. By the time I went to kindergarten it was evident I was different than the other children with my art. When I was in the second grade, my teachers moved me into 8th grade art class. It was very strange to be in class with such big kids, and strange to all of us that I was a better painter than they were! After being in advanced art during high school I went on to become an art major at Southwest Texas State University. I left college just shy of graduation and entered the business world. I went into the automotive business for 35 years, but I always continued to paint. I have always given my art to friends and family, or kept them myself. Now that I have outgrown the business world, it's time to see if the art world has a spot for me. I use mostly watercolor, on occasion oil or something else. I usually paint medium to large pieces. I know all the rules for making art, and I simply ignore most all of them. Up to this point I have always painted for friends, family and mostly myself.
