About The Artwork
I first painted this sad teenage figure in ink on paper at the age of 17, when I felt lost, worried and unhappy. In hindsight, I think these moments of deep despair are a universal experience of adolescence. Change, growth, development, you could even say that metamorphoses accumulated in a short period of just a few years have their price - extremely strong emotions. This year I recreated the painting in gray in acrylic on canvas to emphasize the perspective that time has given me.
