A while back I painted two little girls sitting on a white balustrade looking very angelic. I called it "Sugar & Spice" after the old nursery rhyme : What are little boys made of? What are little boys made of? Snips and snails And puppy-dogs' tails That's what little boys are made of What are little girls made of? What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice And "all things nice" That's what little girls are made of. These little girls have a lot to contend with during covid-19, so even if they are still made of Sugar and Spice, what they're going through isn't so nice. The bright summer colours show the optimistic side to things. It'll all be alright.

I have recently moved back to the UK after living in Italy for almost all my adult life. The Mediterranean lifestyle features greatly in my work and I hope it continues to do so. Check out my latest slideshow on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XKGOFS3ao0&feature=youtu.be Rosalind Roberts is a full-time English artist, living and working in Milan, Italy. My art is all about people and how they relate to their environment. In the sunshine or in the shade. Even when no figure can be seen in a painting, the human being with all his/her moods and eccentricities, fragility and strength, is still very present. Where would we be without other people? Interacting with others is a necessity and I find myself drawn to depicting this interaction. Being an artist for me means being on a never-ending learning curve. You can never put the brush down and say, “Right, I’ve mastered it”. You have to continually strive to improve and refine your technique. Sometimes it can be very frustrating and then one day, click, you’ve moved along the curve a little bit more and the sun is shining down on you. Thanks to Saatchiart and the Internet, I now have collectors all over the world, some of whom I am in contact with on a regular basis. It gives me enormous pleasure to think of my creations hanging on walls all over the world and to thank my collectors, I always enclose a surprise gift in their package.
