Utilising a process of distillation through photographs and watercolour pencil studies, Kate Murdoch plays with the essence in her subjects. Inspired by the purity of natural forms, her abstractions find an emotion beyond visual representation. Her current work uses shapes and pure colour to form organic ‘shields.’ In creating these works, Kate explores the spiritual balance found in nature and its opposite – our disconnection from it.
