"Boat on the river" was painted in my studio on 300 g, 100% cotton, archival quality, rough Arches paper. Only three colors were used: cobalt blue, alizarin, and light oker. The scene is from Zurich downtown where Limmat river starts her journey, running out from the Zurich Lake. The main actor is the Weidling, a flat-bottomed boat used in the Middle Ages, for river transportation and fishing. In deep water, the weidling is traditionally propelled by one or two oars. In shallow areas, the boat can be poled along by one or two standing crew members. On waterways with suitable banks, the weidling can also be towed from the shore. In the background, you can see the Grossmünster ("great minster"), a Romanesque-style Protestant church, one of the main churches in Zurich. Your painting will be carefully packed, protected, and shipped in a robust tube.

Milos Petkovic (born 1961 in Zemun, Serbia) is fascinated by light and atmosphere which is the driving force for him to paint. He specialized in watercolors, loving the sense of freedom and spontaneity that this medium can offer. Watercolors are not meant to be controlled, but to let flow. That is why Petkovic just guides its course to create what he feels is artistically beautiful. He mainly paints in a semi-realistic, impressionist style, using both transparent and opaque watercolors that highlight the play of lights and shades, usually finishing the painting with spontaneous, bold, and dry brushstrokes. Petkovic finds beauty in the commonplaces – streets, public transport, pubs, flashes of light on a wet asphalt…and tries to make them to tell a simple everyday life story. After Serbia and New Zealand, he currently lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.
