This seascape, is seen from the North of Koh Phangan island, that the artist has called home, for 16 years. Chaloklam is a beautiful natural harbour. John was a dive instructor for 10yrs, and this is where most of the dive boats leave. So the location is like the beginning of his commute in these days. This painting records a beautiful sunday, spent with his daughter playing, with the waves, and sand. The stunning assault to the senses, from this beautiful beach scene is conveyed, by a heightened pallet, and expressive brush strokes. The painting is worked on in countless sessions, over months, building up layer, after thin layer, to achieve, what the artist wants to convey, whilst the artistic vitality is never lost.
