About The Artwork

I was born in 1971, yet I have friends (my parent's age) that served in the Vietnam War. A war that gave rise to the Flower Power movement and many symbols still used in our culture today. This painting symbolizes non-violence in a way many still don't discuss. The way we treat ourselves. Flower Power is the title of a photograph taken by American photographer Bernie Boston for the now-defunct newspaper The Washington Star. Taken on October 21, 1967, during the March on the Pentagon by the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam, the photo shows protester, George Harris, placing a carnation into the barrel of an M14 rifle held by a soldier of the 503rd Military Police Battalion. The original photograph was nominated for the 1967 Pulitzer Prize.

Based in Los Angeles, designing for more than two decades in the toy industry has had a significant role in Kevin's journey to becoming a professional artist. His self-taught approach has been an ongoing theme in all aspects of his creative life. As a painter, he focuses on what is real. Kevin always includes the tiniest imperfections found on every subject, the endearing scratches, scuffs, chips of paint, and the rusty edges that only time and experience can create. Ever-reminding us to see beauty in everything, even the parts we so frequently try to hide. Kevin strives to entice warm-hearted memories and relatable smiles - gentle reminders of just how far each of us has come.
